I am repainting my living room. I would like a more country type setting.
My carpet is hunter green which I am not replacing. Half my walls are white stucco (top) with a chair rail and paneling below. Getting tire of the same 'ole white walls. My furnitue is tan leather. I also have a seated bay window I would like to paint in a offset color but am just stumped as to what I want. I do have quite a few windows and they are white vinyl so they can't be painted but the trim can, which is med. to darlk brown. My curtains are now burgandy but not a problem with replacing them. My sister can sew so material ideas are pretty endless. Any help from any talented person more than I would be appreciated. Thanks !!
I forgot to memtion my living room "runs" into my kitchen as I have the open concept and am looking for kithen color as well to blend with the living room, with med. to light cupboards.. Thanks again..

Hunter green is an easy color to work with. as i've mentioned in the Stickie note at the top of this Decorating forum, picking out wall colors is made easier by finding inspiration somewhere. since sewing is an option, i'd start in the fabric store. look for something you love - keeping in mind that the fabric/s can be used for pillows (for the window seat or throw pillows for the sofa) or window treatments (in either or both of the living room and/or kitchen), or placemats or kitchen chair cushions, or.....all of the above. once you find the fabric/s (which will contain the hunter green) pull out one of the other colors for the wall color.
the same idea can be done with an area rug, or artwork, or anything that is a multi-colored patterned item. if you can find that thing, then you can pull the other colors from it, and build out from there.
trying to pick the wall color at this point is futile. and with solid green carpet and solid tan furniture, you've got nothing to draw from. you need to narrow down your choices by finding the "something" that it is supposed to go "with" first!
