is flexible gas line to the furnace safe.the reason im asking is on my old home the gas pipe was solid pipe to the furnace,in my new home the furnace is hooked up with a 36inch long piece of yellow flexible gas line...im guess maybe the code changed throughout the years.

The best way to go here .Is check with code where you are for sure. See what you can use there.

I was told the code has changed hear in Massachusetts where you're allowed to use a certain type of flexible gas line. I don't know the specifics but I know the plumber that did my boiler does not like them even though they are allowed. He still uses cast iron pipe. I think it's a good idea to check the code in your area. Also, there may be a record of the permit on file. If so, then it had to have been inspected.
