Hi: We live in an older Mobile Home with the old style paneling. I'd like to replace it with something else. Painting is not an option. Help! :)
Are you interested in new paneling or wallpaper?

Many mobile homes have decorative gypsum board with molding strips between panels. This panelling can be removed and replaced with drywall or new panelling. Or, the molding strips can be removed and walls throughly cleaned with TSP (trisodium phosphate) or other cleaner to degrease. Grooves can be filled with spackle. If spackle shrinks, spackle again. Then, sand to achieve smooth surface. Walls can be primed with primer/sealer & painted. Or they can be wallpapered. Some folks opt to cover walls with liner paper from wallpaper store and paper over it. Liner paper is hung horizontally and provides a very smooth surface. If you have more specific questions, you can post again here on the DIY Panelling Forum or the Paint or Wallpaper Forums.
