Future Go-Cart Proformance Question ?

Hello Everyone:
I am in the process of designing and drawing up plans for my first go-cart.
Being new to this type of construction, except attempting to build one in high school(which was never completed). I would appreciate any input.

I would like to find out what kind of proformance I can expect from my cart with the following specs.

10HP Tecumseh engine with 1" shaft(I don't know specs on engine)
Comet 40 Series Torque Converter
(Speed Ratios - High 1:1 - Low 2.43:1, rated for 1600-3100 rpm)
3/4" Jackshaft w/10 tooth 40P sprocket
1" live axle w/ 54 tooth 40P sprocket
8" Steel rims with 22x11 tires

I know that the weight of the cart and other factors will affect the proformance of the cart.
I would like to know if it will have good get-up-and-go, or will it be a slow starter but fast after it gets going.

Do the math and calculate your final drive ratio with your converter at the max and min ratios. That with the circuference of your rear tires will tell you how fast your cart will go for a given engine rpm and torque converter ratio.

On level ground your cart will probably eventually get up to your theoretical max speed if that speed is below 45 mph. As you go faster than about 45 the the wind resistance really starts to take a toll unless you fair in the body.
