I have a 4 month old 27inch Philips TV that just went dead 2 days ago. It doesn't make any sounds and no lights go on when I try to turn it on. It was working fine, was shut off for about 30 minutes and then would not turn on again. I checked the outlet and the power strip and both are working fine. Other items plugged in work so it's not the outlet.
Needless to say, the 90 day warranty has run out, and Philips will only pay for parts now. I called 2 of their service centers; one told me I would have to bring it to them and the other one never called back.
Is there anything I could check on my own. As I mentioned before, it's only 4 months old so I imagine having it repaired would still be worth the money, but at this point I'm toying with the idea of just pushing it down a flight of steps and moving on!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

No help to offer - just a 'misery loves company' response. Our Philips TV - same model number and purchased just over three months ago (more than ninety days) - stopped working too! It worked just fine last night and now this morning, nothing.
I went online looking for help (Philips' site offers nothing) and came across your post - the similarities are almost eerie. Hopefully someone will post something more helpful - in the meantime I'll keep looking and let you know!

Wow, that is eerie! I wonder if that model is from some sort of bad lot! You sure aren't kidding about Philips being of no help at all! I called the customer service line and they kept me on hold for 45 minutes and then gave me a list of 3 service centers in my area. 1 told me it would cost too much for them to come to my home, and I would need to bring it in. As you know the TV weights almost 100 pounds! I almost broke my back bringing it in, the next time it leaves this house at my hands will be as it is kicked to the curb! Hope one of us comes up with some info, I'm still looking too. I'll let you know once I hear something.
In the meantime, I sent a pretty nasty email to their customer service office. This is my last Philips for sure! :wall:
