Hi, fellas. I'm hoping someone out there can answer this. I have an older RCA 46" projection tv (model P46731AT) that won't come on after a power surge. I know, it should've been in a surge protector and WAS, but the satellite installers chose to plug it into the wall receptacle when testing their installation. That mistake went unnoticed until the power surge a few days later. DirecTV says it's my word against theirs...yodda yodda.

Back to the situation. The part number that is fried is 426680225 and is no longer available. I'm not exactly sure what you call that part but I think it's a sacrificial lamb to protect the rest of the tv from damage. My question is: IS THERE A GENERIC PART MADE TO DO THE SAME THING THAT I CAN PUT IN IT'S PLACE? A not so local repairman wants $400 to haul this behemoth in to his shop, replace the part (where in the heck is HE going to get the part?) and haul it back to me. I don't HAVE $400 to spend on this repair, especially when in actuality the part probably won't cost more than $40.

Is there someone out there who can help me with my question? :coffee:
You guys are the BEST~!

there should be a fuse or 2 on the power supply board.is that the board your referring to when you say its fried?the one with power cord on it,is the one to check,if fuses are good start looking for fried components on that board and then work your way out.you should be able to locate bad componet fairly easy.
