Hi, first post here...
I have an RCA 27" Remote control TV that, after being turned on, repeatedly turns itself off, then on, over and over. I taped a piece of cardboard over the remote sensor to make sure I wasn't gettting some kind of odd signal, but it didn't help. The TV is about 7 years old. What could be the problem? Thanks!

It doesn't matter how I turn it on, remote or otherwise. It's quite maddening, and it makes the TV unwatchable because it can turn off and on every 10 seconds. It stays off for sometimes a few seconds, sometimes 30 seconds. After a period of time it just does not come back on unless I turn it on. By the way, the TV is 4 1/2 years old, not 7 as I first reported. Any help is appreciated.

RCA did have some problems with a couple of different chassis. I don't recall the numbers off the top of my head, but that was one of the symptoms. The problems were related to cold solder joints in the tuner. Specificly the grounds to the tuners shell. It could also cause a loss of picture, color infomation changing etc. Any good repair shop should be able to tell you if you happen to be unlucky enough to have a model that was affected.
