i read the replies to the question about removing paint from ceramic floors, but my problem is the top half of the ceramic wall is painted around my tub. How do I remove this paint without damaging the finish on the tub with stripper. I'm sure it's latex semi-gloss paint.

Lizzy if I understand,try to use a good razor blade holder and see if the paint will not shave off.You could mask off the tub with plastic and that will protect it.If by some chance you have a cast iron coated tub it cant be damaged with paint strippers.
