Hi!
Can someone tell me how do I tellif my steam valves (maid o'mist) are 1/4" or 1/8" and straight or angle?
Thanks!
The straight or angle is descriptive of the relationship between the main valve and the threaded portion. If it goes into a vertical surface like the end of your radiator, it would be an angle valve. If it goes into a horizontal surface, like the top of a radiator, it is a straight model. Angle is most popular. 1/8" is most popular size and the threaded portion is about the size of a pencil. A 1/4" valve is more like the diameter of my little finger. If you need a picture of my little finger post back. Just kidding. A 1/4" pipe thread is about 3/8" outside diameter. You can take off your vent whenever the boiler isn't making heat and get a good look at it that way.
