Hello,

We are working on finishing a basement. There are a lot of exsisting pipes, wires, etc in the rafters above. I know this is always a challenge with basement remodles. We recently had a HVAC contractor run some new lines and cold air returns for the new space.

I noticed on one of the lines they ran a 6" duct right over the top of a copper pipe. The copper pipe is actually going perpendicular to the heat line. I know copper can react with many metals. Is there a risk with the duct resting on top of the pipe??? The duct apperas to be made of a galvanized sheet metal.

Some duct tape on the copper will make all ok. :)

Thank you for your reply!!!

Just so I am on the same page. Are you talking about regular old duct tape or the foil type tape for heating ducts? I am guessing regular duct tape.

Thanks again - very appretiated :)

Id go a little more here. So also it dont make any noise just slip some of that black foam cover for pipes over the copper pipe aand you got it made.
