I have an old boiler (Timken) that holds about 30 gallons of water that I am replacing. The salesman wants to sell me one of these compact boilers (rated for 150,000 BTUs) that maybe holds 5 gallons of water. I should think the the burner would be on all the time in freezing weather. It seems  more logical that the boiler with the larger quantity of water to heat would hold the boiler temperature longer and not require constant operation of the burner.
