Magic Chef washer,model#W20HA2 every thing working except the spin cycles. It started out some time back I would have to spin the agitator by hand to help it get up to speed. Any tips out there?Cecil35.
My old Series 80 Kenmore quit spinning this morning too. The above "fix" maybe different than mine, but thought maybe the same "fixer" might have an idea for me too? Is this something I could get a part for and fix? Or should I be shopping? Everything else seems to work, but it won't spin on any cycle.
Thanks for the help....in advance. Sorry to jump on your thread, but maybe we can get a "two-fer."
Morning all,
- as there are two queries here, I'll stick to basics.
The 2 most common 'no spin' problems are broken or loose belt, or broken 'wig-wag' (this is a pair of solenoids in many (but not all) washers that engage the spin cam, and agitate cam. These are relatively simple problems that may be fixed by most DIYers. The broken belt is obvious, loose belt not so obvious as the tensionesr may have just slipped a little. For the 'wig-wag' problem you need a mutimeter to check continuity on the 2 solenoids.
Post back in 2 threads and we'll take it from there

Wig wag solenoids only apply to OLDER [pre 1885 or thereabouts] Kenmore/Whirlpool washers. The most common no spin problem is a malfunctioning/defective lid switch.

As for the Magic Chef washer ,I went into it and I determined the spin bearing was froze up.It had also made a loud noise when it was spinning. It had quite a few years on it so I've replaced it with a new one.Thx,everyone.Cecil.
