Hi:

I am new to security systems. I have a PC3000 based home security system that stopped working. It was not connected to a central office when I was using it.

I am looking for a drop in replacement that will handle 12 hardwired zones. Is there such a thing? If not, what would be my best bet? Would I have to change the keypad as well? Is that an easy thing to do?

The easiest would be to get a PC 3000 main board and swap out the system. The rest of it is system/zone configuration, which can be a little bit of a headache with DSC, but once you get the feel for their programming systex, it's not too bad. Just make sure that the main board is the reason that the system failed, power supply failure is a not uncommon failure mode for DSC.
