Hello,

Please forgive my ingnorance in this matter. I have a very old boiler we think from the early 1900's (it was originally coal burnering, then coverted to oil, then converted to gas). The water from the main line is feeds the water into the boiler, this I get. But tonight, the water will not feed into the boiler. THe water gauge is full, and we ahd to shut down the main water line in the house because the water is overflowing from the gauge.

I don't know what to do and the plumbers are not calling back. Can someone please help me????

Ami

Ami,

There should be a shutoff valve in the water line feeding the boiler. Just close it and you should not have to shutoff the water to the entire house.

Do you have a steam or hot water boiler?

Based on your knowledge, you might be better off waiting on the plumber, but you can shutoff the water feed to your boiler.
