My inlaws are looking for a reasonable quality Home Surround system. They have a projection TV and a CD/DVD player. They will need a receiver and speakers. I can figure this part out. My question is they want sound from the stereo in 5 other additional rooms. Ideally being able to adjust the volume in each room. Is there a product that I can hook up to the new receiver (or amp) that will do this for them? Do I need to buy a mixer board?
Thanks
John

Yes, they can wire each room with speakers and volume controls. I'll let the experts of this forum attend to that question.
You don't mention any kind of budget. I will suggest that your in-laws spend at least $500 on the receiver alone. Avoid the home-theater-in-a-box sytems. Those are severely limited.

If budget is not a concern, then Russound is definitely the answer.
Russound is the biggest name in multi-source, multi-zone audio and video. I sell and install these systems on a daily basis and I haven't found a better product out there.
Before I turn into a salesman, I'll just say - take a look at Russound's website for more info on their systems. Do keep in mind that these systems are meant to be installed by professionals only - and, in order to keep the warranty valid, they should only be purchased and installed by authorized dealers (as with many A/V products out there.)
Let me know if you need any further info or have any questions.
