I have an aprilaire 560 where there appears to be no water flow to the humidifier. The wires leading to the solenoid are yellow till they get to the solwenoid then appear blackened. The unit is attached to a lennox whisperheat furnace. how do I go about testing to see if the problem is the solenoid or the saddle valve or possibly humidistat? Also, if the solenoid is the problem is it just as well to replace the humidifier with a newer one? If I replace the humidifier how straightforward is that, I'm only marginally handy...
Did you check to see if you are getting 24volts to the valve? If yes, and do have water up to it as well, the valve maybe bad.. You may be able to change out the valve itself..

If you stay with the same humidifier the new one will go right in. if you get another kind can be you will have to patch come holes . Thats not hard.
First take and run the humidistat up and down when the blower is on feel the solenoid and see if it works?? you can back off that like nut there at it on the 1/4" line and see if you get water there then the one at the saddle valve tosee if you have water there. post back and let us know what you find

There appears to be no water getting through the saddle valve, so I'll start by replacing that. Is there anything in particular I should be aware of when doing this?
Just make sure there is no debres from the copper line that will plug up the saddle valve.

Sorry it took so long to reply. I replaced the saddle valve and all seems to be well...waiting for the humidity to come up again. Of course currently we have warm humid weather so the humidifier is not running. I have checked a couple times and am able to get water into the humidifier by turning it all the way up. Thanks for all your help!
