I am buying a home that is much bigger than my present one. I am going from one bathroom to two full baths, and all of the extra apliances, ie dish-washer, washer etc... the home has a small 40 gal. tank, I know will not support a family of five. Not sure if tankless would be able to supply adequate hot water or other methods. I have been reading other forums and not sure if I should install a large tank or two tanks and run them in series. Perhaps keep the 40, which is closer to the kitchen area, and wash room, and install either a smaller tank by the baths or another large tank. Any help would be appreciated, I have been going crazy trying to figure this out. Everyone gives different answers. The present supply is electric also.
Thanks in advance.

Id think a fast 40 should do what you want there . But if you dont think so.Yes with electric Id put anouther 40 gal tank over by the baths. Not that hard to do.

If you put a second tank in another location and do not split the system, you will have essentially a parallel hookup and it will be very unbalanced.

Tankless are good but folks often underestimate how much water they want to use AT THE SAME TIME.

40 gal. not enough for a family of 5. SImplest solution is to go with a hi output 50 or 60 gallon.
