I'm replacing 12" speakers in my home stereo. The speakers I took out had a little yellow dot on the side where the + wire went. The new speakers I'm putting in have no markings to tell me which side is + or -. Is there a way to figure out which terminals on these speakers are + and -? I don't want to wire them wrong and ruin the speakers. Thanks.............

the other, that one is the positive (+). The narrow one is negative (-). If that doesn't help, then try this link:

Hope this helped and Happy Holidays!

The easiest thing to do is to use the battery method - when the positive battery is connected to the positive speaker (and negative, etc.) then the speaker pops out. If it's backwards (positive to negative speaker, etc.) then the speaker pops in.

Good luck!

That worked great guy's. Can check smaller speakers like that too, like car stereo speakers? Or should you use a smaller volt battery for a smaller ohm speaker?

As long as you use a 1.5V battery (AA, AAA, C, D, etc.), you can use it on pretty much any speaker.
