I have a standard-cleaning electric Whirlpool oven range (RF315PXG) which up to a few days ago was working great. But now it's burning everything I put in there - even at 350 degrees F for a few minutes. I did use oven cleaner about a week ago. Maybe that's a reason? Any ideas? I would really appreciate any help on this!!

Hello bluvw and Welcome to the Do-It-Yourself Web Site and the Electric Appliances Forum Topic.

Very likely the oven cleaner caustic chemical pitted the temperature sensing element. That would cause the thermsotat to loose it's ability to accurately sense temperatures. As a result, the oven will obtain much higher temps and cause all items to burn and/or bake much too fast.

Only solution to resolve this type of problem is to replace the thermostat.

Search the manufacturers web site for a downloadable version of the owners or service manual. The file will be a pdf file opened with Adobe, which also needs to be downloaded first but worth having once obtained.

Retail appliance parts dealers can also help determine what the possible problem may be. Bring the make, model and serial numbers. Appliance part stores and parts dealers are listed in the phone book.

Are any error codes displayed? First thing to check is the oven sensor, it should be about 1080 ohms at room temp [make sure you measure the sensor resistance from the start of the wiring harness to validate the wires]. If that's ok, then most likely one of the relays in oven control is stuck closed which means replacing the controller. If the tech sheets are missing, you can get them at www.servicematters.com
