I just installed a new Beckett burner (AFG) in an old furnace (gravity - no blower motor). Initially, it fired just fine, but then started sputtering, then no ignition. I figured clogged fuel line, so that was blown out, filter changed, new nozzle, etc....I now have a nice spray, but it will not light. Everything is brand new. Primary control is the Honeywell R7184B. Electronic igniter is Beckett # 746001. Any ideas out there? Is it possible to replace the electonic igniter with a standard transformer?

Yes you sure can. Brand new ,you sure its dead??? You sure the electrodes are set right???? Do you have power to it from the control? Is the control intermittent and not working. lots of IFS IFS here nozzle angle righht? fine out if you have power to the ignitor snf if its good. put 11oV to just it and see. NOW LOOK OUT ok

You should check the ignitor with a screwdriver. Draw an arc across the terminals. You should get a nice fat spark. If you don't, check the a/c voltage at the line voltage terminals of the ignitor. If they are dead, put the ignitor on with the motor. The independent power sources in the 7184 are not actual relays. They can each fail independently. Are you sure you set the 'Z' dimension correctly on the burner?
