Hello guys, i have Comfortmaker model #GDJ075M12B1, NDN5075BFB1
and this morning got up and the house was 52 deg. The furnace was not runing so shut the breaker off for a while to see if reseting it might help. No luck furnace blower turns on but will not light up.This unit has a smart valve in it wich a few days ago was making a humming sound. Today the furnace will not ignite at all. So i tapped the smart valve lightly made clicking sound and fired up that was this morning it's about 2:00 pm eastern time and is runing ok so far, but today is xmas eve and every thing is closed but. Is this smart valve sold as a complete unit or can i get ignition box thats mounted over it seprate. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I have not been around these system... But, I've heard these valve are known to be very troublesome!

Hope you can hang in there till Monday, and have someone come and look at it.

The smart valve is noted for having problems. It sounds as though you have found a solution, albeit not a permanant one. The valve is sold as a unit and everything needed to install it is included. It is NOT recommended to alter the controls or bypass valves or safeties. The control board has a sequence programmed in it and changing this could cause unwanted problems.

Smart valves are a pain in the rear end.

The control board in them crack and the terminals don't seem to make good connections. I to have put tooth picks in the terminal plugs just to see how the rest of the furnace worked before I went back to the van to get a new valve.

Hope you have success with yours and Merry Christmas.

I looked at some on-line parts suppliers and they get $169.92 for that part. SO, unless you know someone who will let you have it wholesale........

It can be repaired.Turn off the furnace breaker (or remove the furnace fuse at your electrical panel) unplug the two moly connectors going to the valve There are two screws on the plastic housing on top of the valve that can be removed. There is a circuit board under that that will slide out after you undo the grounding wire. When you inspect the underside of the circuit, you will see one or more cold solder joints that need to be repaired (resoldered) Once that is done, reverse the removal procedure, put it all back together, clean and connect the wires, reinstall all the covers and presto, away it goes. If you are unsure about any of the terms or procedures I have described, get a professional to do it!
Cheers
