I'm thinking about buying a projection tv I've seen on a national shopping network. It's $1399.95 and has a 106" screen projection with DLP technology and HDTV compatible. Anyone familiar with what I'm talking about? What should I look for in buying a large screen/projection? Can't affort an actual HDTV or plasma large screen. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Tim

Do you have a room large enough for 106 inches?
What brand is it?
HD compatible means you still need a Tuner for OTA or a STB, cable or satellite.

If you're thinking about $1400 for the above, you are close to a 46 inch tube projection or even an lcd or dlp rear projection. Most of the newer 16:9 HD widescreens are coming with tuners for ota.

Many people do not understand ota digital, and HD signals.
Go to your local tv stations' website for good information re ota.

(for less than $1000 you can get a DishNet sat HD system with a 36 inch hd tube tv or 40 inch rptv, installed for free): Dishnetwork.com

Before buying anything learn the terms. Visit a tv store. Look at the difference between plasma and lcd flat screens, lcd and dlp rear projections, old fashioned rear projection tvs, and finally - tube tvs. Also learn the difference between 4:3 and 16:9.

You need to do this because what you describe is an actual high def tv or it isn't hd compatable. Its a device that hangs on your ceiling and projects an image on a screen - like an old fashione movie projector. Perhaps you should first learn what they mean by hdtv compatable. fewalt has the true definition, but who knows with the marketing guys on the home shopping channels.

Be an educated consumer.

I will definately go to Curcit City or something like it and check out what you're talking about. Actually I saw it on TV and it's advertised on shopathometv.com. If you see this one online/or tv pleae let me know what you think.
Have a wonderful Christmas,
Tim
