Hope this is the right forum.\
Can anyone give me a quick primer on the multi-unit interconnect feature on smoke alarms ( such as First Alert, Firex, Kidde, Gentex)
Some of these have just 3 wires on the pigtail, some have multiple. Is there a general rule as far as which ones can be "mixed" with each other?
Is the interconnect a 120v signal, or low voltage, or digital?
Sorry for so many questions. Just a little confused!

It varies a bit. Most of the mass market brands can be mixed. Others, like Gentex, for example, will not interconnect with other brands. Basically, you have to check the spec sheets for each.
