Hi everyone...new member here from Northern Illinois.

I just ordered an Aprilaire Model 600 and I'm studying up on how to best install it before it arrives. I'm reading alot about the A50 Sensing Relay and that it comes highly recommended for ease of installation.

As I've read elsewhere on this forum, there is no need to splice into wiring on the blower. Is that correct? Can somebody walk me though on how it is wired up?

I have a Bryant furnace with a HUM terminal, but not certain how much voltage it's putting out.

Merry Christmas everyone!

The A 50 lets say is just like a amprobe. All you have to do is put the metal band like around the blower wire. Then when every the blower turn on it will make the A50 work. So you run a 110V power to it and on up to the humidistat then to the humidifer.

Hi all, new member (northern virginia)

I installed an Aprilaire 700 last year without the A50 relay so I'd like to hook up an A50 to stop my A700 from blowing all the time.

Following the A700 installation instructions though, I pulled a 120V 20A line down so that I could plug in the fan on the humidifier unit. I ran a 24V line from the transformer on the HVAC to power the humidistat. (if memory serves)

I read in the last post that the 110V runs into the A50 then to the humidistat and then onto the humidifier. Is that right? or does the A50 run the 110V from the relay directly to the humidifier?

I'm figure that running the power from the A50 directly to the humidifier sets up the situation where the humidistat is always running, but the humidifier only runs when the blower on the HVAC unit is running. Is that correct?

Thanks for the help!

Not sure how you have it wired right now. So Id draw it out on paper first. Id run the 110V supply for the humidifier through the A50 first that way when every the blower comes on power will go to the controls or the humidifier transformer the hum tstat or solenoid. What ever need teh power to make things work.

Perfect! 110V -> A50 -> Humidifier. Got it.

Thanks a bunch!
