You can but by the time you spend the money on the controls and work you could probably add 2nd unit and have better control than zoning.

With MATT 2 units . How big is the home Large???? Can you get to it all to put all the new duct work in for 2 zones. If its 2 story now try 24/7 on the blower.

the house is not very large, but I'm planning to put on a 1000 square foot addition - I'm blowing out the roof and adding to the back of the house
my other thought is to just add electric baseboard heat to the new rooms
