Hi There,
First, let me admit that I am pretty ignorant when it comes to home heating - I know how to change the filter and adjust the thermostat but that's about it.
I have a York Furnace and Gas heating: All of a sudden the heat does not turn on when set the thermostat to AUTO (the fan doesnt blow either). When I set the it to ON the fan blows, but not hot air.
I checked the circuit breaker and all seems good there. I dont notice a pilot light on in the heater (seem to recall seeing one at some point). Also none of the copper pipes are hot except for the time leading to the water heater.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Doug

Do you know if it's a free standing pilot or spark ignition to light the pilot on the call of heat?
If you are not sure, take off the front cover for the burner area, and look at the gas valve.. If you see this printed on one of the knobs = Off. Pilot. On and another knob that you press in to hold the pilot a few sec.
Please post full model # it may help us a litte more of what you got.
And for the copper pipe, Do yo have heat pump or hydro coil? I am lost here on this. Yes the pipe from water heater is hot, unless you got a hydro coil on the furnace.
