Hello all,

Not sure if I even have the right forum, but I need some opinions/advice on how we should set up our closet space in a recent bedroom renovation. Right now the only way we can make the most space for the closet is by having the entry come thru the bath versus access right from the bedroom.

The concern is humidity from the bathroom creating mildew, etc on the clothing. There will be a door seperating the bath to the closet, but I'm not sure if it should still be a concern. There is a fan ventilating the humidity, but nothing is 100%.

I have seen new home layouts that show the only way to the closet is thru the bath on blue prints. Does anyone have this kind of layout and do you have any issues with the humidity/mildew aspects??? Are there any codes that I need to be concerned with?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I am not sure about code, but check with your city hall.

My parents just had a new house built last summer, they added a vent in the walk in closet from the bathroom to keep the air moving. They also put one in the walkin in the basement bedroom as well.

WE have always put registers in any closet from the bath or just the bedrooms if on outside walls and need the heat there . They are also part of the home when you turn on the AC. This helps dry out the home. Have had them in any closet open to the bath in 5 homes now down here in FL.
