Our home is two years old and has one out of four upstairs rooms that is quite cold. It is a larger room 20 x 15 on the north side of the house. I have finally figured out what is wrong. In a smaller room upstairs (south side) there are two heating/cooling vents and only one in this one which is directly across the hall. I think the installers got mixed up and put two where one should've been and one where two were to go. Can I just add another duct and vent to the larger room? Or should I block one off of the other room before hand?

Thanks!

You dont say how the feed duct comes in here?????
Id try and close down that other register first and see it you get more air out of that one register in the other room.
Can and how can you get to this duct work to add another run ??? Could be thats the way to go. Post back and let use know what you couldor can do there.

The duct work is in the attic. It is easy to get to. We have shut down the other vents and it helped some, but not enough. I think it is a combination of one vent in a large room and that the room is on the northern exposure.
I could add another duct and vent into the larger room with or without taking off the other vent. I am not sure which way would be best.

Then I would run another flex 6" pipe to the out side wall blowing down. Also you dont say if the door here is closed all the time if no cold air return might cut the bottom of the door off some. See if you just crack the door and turn on the blower if it pulls shut take some off the bottom of the door some.

The door's open most of the time; though the boys would like to close it. I'll check the air return. Great suggestions. Thank you very much!!
