During our kitchen remodel, we took down the wall into the laundy and added a center island over the old laundry waste line. Can I put a sink in the island and use the old drain line though it no longer has an associated vent?

There is a 4" main stack vent that is 13 feet away. No opportunity to add a vent as we are on a slab with radiant heat.

I saw one magazine article that showed a trapezoidal shaped plumbing loop. Is this feasible?

You may (if code in your area allows it) be able to use an under the counter vent. Click on the link below for details. Good luck.

Check with your local bldg. dept. to see if Studor valves are allowed where you're at. If they are, then that is one option. The other option (whether Studor's are allowed or not) is a loop vent on the drain line in the island. Again, you local bldg. dept. will have the answers. A loop vent has some VERY SPECIFIC requirements in order to be legal. The BD will probably have a printed handout showing EXACTLY how it has to be done.
