Maytag dishwasher knob hard to turn

I know this sounds very odd, but when the weather gets cold, my Maytag dishwasher knob gets hard to turn. The colder the weather, the harder it is to turn! It is a portable dishwasher that we have permantly hooked up. My husband says that the weather has nothing to do with it, and it really doesn't make any sense, but I have no problems in the warm weather. When it starts getting cold out, it's a fight to turn the dishwasher on. Is it just me, or could it actually be the weather? And, if it is the weather, what can we do to fix the problem? Thanks!

that's new to me! the only thing you are turning is the timer. you have to replace it. it is a non-servicable part. as long as it works, i would use it. if the d/w was outside in the weather then yes, i would say it was the weather but otherwise, that's tough.
