Folks I'd appreciate any advice. It stopped running once or twice but after I disassembled and reassembled it it ran briefly. Here's what I've done. Checked with a multimeter for continuity - everthing seems to be fine. But it's dead. I checked the cord, it was ok but for good measure I replaced it. I isolated the power switch (this model only has a power switch on the base, none on the handle) - it breaks and reconnects every time I click the switch. The headlights have continuity both alone and when in the socket - I figure they would work as good as a test light if juice was flowing. I've considered replaceing the carbon brushes but that seems futile until I find how far the power is getting thru. The rotor spins freely. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Jack,
-how old is this machine, I didn't think they'd been out very long. According to their website they're practically going to welcome you with open arms when you bring it in for servicing  If it's less than 3 yrs old that's what i'd do

Nomind, it's probabaly 8 years old or so. It had been cleaning fine up till about a week ago. My wife's getting frustrated without it. What's the deal about welcoming me with open arms? I've priced a replacement motor at $60 and if I could be sure that would cure it I'd spend the money and still be ahead of the game. But I don't understand why the head lights won't light, that seems to indicate the juice isn't getting thru.

Hi JRJ,
- my apologies, -I didn't realise they'd been around that long.
Do you have a cct. diagram , or are you doing this by following the logical path?. If no diagram, I'd VERY carefully follow the hot line with it plugged in . If you have cct. Diag. email it to me.

Nomind,

I don't have a wiring diagram. I'm following the logical, by sight method, I realize something might not be my logic but I'm a mechanical type guy. I've been using a multi-meter to check the path via continuity. I'm not the most brave guy around live electrial stuff.
