View Full Version : Modifying furnace vent to fit humidifier.

I am trying to install a whole house humidifier. The front of the return air duct is obscured by the furnace vent pipe. There is a 24" vertical run of the vent, and then it angles upwards where it joins the vent for the water heater.

Am I required by any sort of code to have a 24" vertical run for this vent pipe, or can I angle it closer to the furnace? If I angled it lower, it would then expose the area on the return air duct where I can mount the humidifier.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Aaron

Check with code there. But most of the time as long as the gas vent pipe slopes uphill some to the flue you are OK.
