Has anyone used these tropical fish instead of a solar blanket? If so, what did you think about their effectiveness? Thank you.

From what I have seen of the Fish do not work ….
They claim that 1 fish covers 400 S.F. so if your pool is 800 S.F, that’s 2 fish a month @ 100.00 or so for a 12 pack that gets you 6 +/- months. Plus they claim work better with little or no water surface movement??? Also pool cleaners like to eat them….
Yes a Solar Blanket is a hassle to take on and off & they only last a few seasons if you are lucky but they do work. Solar Blankets also will gain BTU’s while in use…. the fish that I have seen do not seem to gain BTU'S even though they claim to slow evaporation by as much as 50%........

This is my own opinion…. I have not tried every product (fish) on the market. If I did find a Liquid Fish that worked very well ….. I would give them away with every Solar system I installed……

I have used the tropical fish, they just don't work. We bought a thermal cover this year and it was the best thing we ever did.
