View Full Version : replacing pool screen
I've talked to the people at Home Depot about how to replace the screens around my pool enclosure and was told that I could just go on top of it and start replacing the screen. Have any of you actualy done that? I went two panels out using planks to spread my weight and did not feel like it was going to support me. Any pros out there with advise?

Dont know if you have a hip are is it flat. I know here they walk on the hip kind of roof. They all do have a home made scaffold like that goes across the pool from ladder to ladder.
They do most of the work off of it for the roof screen. I know down here they cant get screen and wont talk to you . They say call back in 60 days. I need mine fixed also and it has the flat spline in it. Thats to hard to work with so Im trying to get some one to do it. Arent hurricane's fun.

It's a flat roof with the flat spline. The flat spline is what makes it so difficult because you need to use a good amount of force sometimes.
Here's a tip for anyone that wants to change out from privacy screen to regular screen. You can just peel off the plastic coating. I had two rows of it around my pool when I bought the house. I replaced one row of screen before I realized. It saved me quite a bit of money and it came off real easy.
On the scaffold, do you mean that it goes all the way over the top of the pool from side to side?

Yes it does, right across the pool in side. the screen guys make them up it ends up like a big aluminum I beam kind of and they just set it on a stepladder on each side of the pool. Flat roof I dont think Id get on it.
ED
I never thought of that idea. It sounds like a winner. I was trying to think of how I could do it from inside instead of on top. I'll post with the results when I get to that project. Thanks
