I have a Whirlpool dryer (don't have the model number but it is a lower-end model) that I purchased last year.
Every time I turn it on, there is a very high pitched, almost squealing noise that comes and goes throughout the cycle.
Any ideas how to remedy this?
Thanks!

If that does not help, go look at your dryer vent piping for a constriction that could cause a whistle.

I agree, it's probably the belt tensioning/idler pulley. You can buy a kit that includes drum rollers, idler pulley and a belt- it's not expensive.
