The screen in the cold water hose rusted off and is blocking the intake hose inside my kenmore stacking w/d. Should I use a snake to force it through to the washer drum?

I am not exactly sure where the screen is located. But, if you can see it, I would definitely pull it out rather than forcing it through. My best recommendation would be a dental pick for removal.

Lynlee,
If you were to push the screen further into the hose it WOULD NOT enter the drum. Said screen would be pushed into the MIXING VALVE and will ruin it.
Disconnect the hose from the back of the washer and push it outof the hose. There should be a mixing valve that should prevent it from going further.

If the screen is in the mixing valve reach in and pull it out. The hose will have to be disconnected from the back of the washer. If the mixing valve is blocked and you can not see the screen, you will probably have to replace the mixing valve.

The mixing valve controls the hot and cold water going into the washer. This reduces down to a single hose connected to the pump. This pump is what sends the water into the washer drum.

Good luck and reply back if you have further questions.

Forget cleaning screens, just replace the valve. They are not expensive.

Hi Bigjohn,
- if they happen to be on a well and the water is not perfect, those screens can save a lot of valves !
