I have a 2nd hand Frigidaire dryer and its model is FDEB23RGS1. I estimate it was made in year 2000. This dryer worked well before. However, when I dried a big blanket last month, the dryer shut itself off before the cycle completed. I set the timer 60 minutes but the dryer stopped running after 20 minutes and wouldn’t start since then. Right now whenever I try to turn on the dryer, I will hear some buzz noise (may be from timer) but the dryer won’t run.

I doubt that the big blanket caused the dryer overheat and made any kind of fuse broken. I opened the back the dryer but couldn’t find where the fuse located. Only found one page electric diagram and it looks very complicated. Not sure this model has any fuse available. I also checked electricity switch in my apartment but it looks fine.

I don’t know what caused the problem. Could anyone help me out?

Thank you very much!

John

Unfortunately, it is entirely possible that something like a blanket would overheat it. The switch that would be affected is usually on the back of the air tunnel housing and looks like a round disc with 2 wires going to it. There will be two similar switches side by side, if you have an ohmeter, unplug the dryer and remove (mark the positions) these 4 wires and test continuity. (some dryers have a 4 wire switch on heater housing at top of the back of drum )Post back and let us know .

I agree the problem was caused by overheat. Is the switch looks like round disc really a thermal fuse? I opened air tunnel housing but could not find it.I only saw the motor inside. If I pull the motor belt, the drum will move.

Could you please help me to check the location of thermal fuse for this model?

Thanks again!

Hi John,
the commonest place for these are on the outside of the air tunnel facing the back panel. Next is on top of the drum at back or front. The common type is 1" diamond shape plate with a switch about the size of 2 nickels in the centre of it , 2 wires running to it. If not immediately obvious, look all around the drum and the air tunnel.
