I bought a ten year old house last year. This is a split entry with a basement and a single above-ground floor. Both bathrooms are upstairs, although there is a rough-in in the basement which I may turn into a bathroom sometime in the probably distant future.

When I bought it, I knew I'd have to rearrange the venting. I'm just not sure how best to do it.

Currently, the range vents into the attic with no direct vent to the outside. I'm assuming I'll need to install a roof vent for that and extend the ductwork to connect to it. The two bathrooms each have a flexible exhaust duct. Initially, they both ended at the roof with a single vent a foot or so above them. As a temporary measure, I moved them to directly below the vent. I believe I need to connect each of these to a roof vent directly. Can the bathroom exhaust ducts share a roof vent or will I need to cut another hole and install another vent? Is there an easy way to connect them to the one vent if that is indeed allowed?

The question that I have is what is the maximum total distance that the vents are allowed. That determins the routing of the vent. If the range vent has a 25 foot maximum length then you calculate how many feet you can go including an extra 10 ft for every 90 degree elbow and 5 ft for every 45 degree elbow.
That being said that may be the reason that the range vent is exhasted into the attic space.

Id check with code there first and see what they say.On the range vent just going to the attic. Yes it has to vent outside. Id also look around there and see if it has been used a lot .If so you can have a cover of grease up there over the insulation that you should clean up and get it out of there. I have seen some that just one match could have taken the whole house down in flame. On the bath vents. Id say a roof vent for each and have a flipper in it so cold air cant come back down the vent pipe. The have a vent that can go into the over hang of the home for the bath vents now. might see if they would work for you.
