I'm looking inofrmation on a part for a GE Dishwasher, model GSD940S-45. I can't find the model listed anywhere and the part doesn't seem to be on diagrams for other models.
In the back of the tub is a screen with the label "SELF CLEAN FILTERING SYSTEM". The part is located under this cover. It's some sort of spring loaded plunger (or check valve?). The problem started when the unit would not drain. Water was spraying up from the plunger. It was stuck wide open. I was able to get it to close somewhat, but it is worn and still leak. It works well enough that the dishwaher drains, for now.
What is this part called? What does it do? Where can I get another?
THANKS!!

Haven't gotten my dishwasher working yet but that part is called a Piston Assembly for check valve.

I believe what you are referring to is a self cleaning body. It is part of the drain system. It sometimes gets clogged with food and then it does not allow the DW to drain. I added a link so you could see if this is the correct part. Good luck.
