I have a Roper model# REX5634KQ1, the dryer will start and the element will heat up and turn red , for about 20 seconds and then the element will go cold and black , but the dryer will continue to run. I checked for continuity on everything , (if i did it right) and everthing seems okay.
Any suggestions?
Thanx Grey

hi Grey.
- sounds like the element is heating up and getting no ventilation. check the entire exhaust flow from drum to outside vent . There is likely a blockage somewhere.

Boy is this a thread revival!
I have the same problem although Mine will not heat up at all.
I looked at the heating element and it looks perfect. I have looked on the net and found my model number and a place that can sell me the parts I might need but, I don’t know what to get. The dryer is practically brand new and has not been used that much. The inside looks very very clean so there is no block age and my circuit breakers are linked so if one goes they both go,
The only thing I can think of is it could be the Thermal Cut off Which is $23 for a little do-dad.
This is the only thing I can think of it being. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Thanks
Jason Garrett
