Help, I will admit that I dont know a thing about water conditioner and such. We have this one installed but have not used it in the 2yrs since the house was built. I was told before I moved in it was tried with a 50lb bag of salt and the salt only lasted two days. I have gotten the user manual from culligan but it does not help with this. Any help would be great.

The initial salt will dissolve rather quickly until the brine is full strength but you can't look at that as salt use. You have to use the softener for a few weeks to be able to calculate it's salt usage. And if you think salt is expensive, you should learn of all the hidden costs of having hard water.
Possibly the softener isn't set up right, so get a water test on the raw water and then check with Culligan or another dealer about how the control should be setup for your family and water quality.
