I am not an appliance expert, but I will say that if you are going to repair this yourself, you will have to diagnose it properly.
For someone to just listen to your story and tell you what is wrong is not possible.

In order to trouble shoot this you will need an electrical tester, a wiring diagram and know how electrical circuits work.
You will have to read a schematic, follow the power flow and use a voltmeter to see which part is at fault.

The continuity tester should have told you that the limit was ok if that is what you changed.
The elements should check ok for continuity as well as the other thermostats for the different drying temps that your drier has.
Also the timer has to send power the the thermostats.

I know how to trouble shoot electrical, but because I don't repair driers everyday, they make me scratch my head sometimes.

If you have trouble reading a schematic then you would save yourself a lot of grief by calling a service man..
