hello, we recently bought this house and the basement was completely finished. It had paneling and dry wall. Shortly after we moved in we noticed a stench in the basement that i could not bear, sure enough it was from mold. So we tore down EVERYTHING, scrubbed the cinder block walls and now i want to re---finish it. We did have water and moisture down there and it never dried because the mold was eating all the drywall. So now it is all cleaned up and i dry-locked the floors and walls. Well it has been 4 months since then and the basement is dry. We did some landscaping and no water is getting in and we have no drain tile problems, but still alot of moisture though . The original lady who owned this house was elderly and had passed away, but we were informed that a brand new sump pump was installed recently, and nobody knew about any water problems so we assume that possibly the sump pump broke and the basement flooded a little. So now i want to do something to the walls. I am painting the concrete floor, but i want to do something to the walls that will make it look like real walls. They are cinder block and i did coat them with 3 coats of dry-lock for basements. I do not want to re-do the walls in dry-wall or paneling because i live in Wisconsin so there is alot of moisture and there always is another chance something might happen and it might get water again.

I need someone who has any clues what i can put on cinder block that will give it texture and be paintable kind of like stucco. Most of all i need a product that is definitly mildew proof and water resistant so that if the basement gets wet again it will be okay. I would like something with texture so that when you look at them you can't tell they are not real dry wall walls and you can not see the cinder blocks thru it.

I want to redo the basement real nice to use as a rec room.

I know there are tons of products that serve this exact purpose, but they are for external use.

I would also assume that whatever i used would have to be oil-based because i will be using it inside the house in an enclosed area by a furnace.

and it would have to be something that i can put over dry-lock oil base.

If anyone has any ideas i would greatly appreciate please e-mail or reply........thanks
