Is there some bearings that can be serviced, or something that could be lubed?
Especially after the dryer heats up, it makes a cyclical whine noise, whiiiiiiiine, pause, whiiiiiiiine, pause.
I'm thinking maybe one time, my wife forgot to clear out the lint basket, we make sure to do this always now. However I think this might have contributed to some heat cycling to cause this problem.
Anway, not sure if this is something I can correct, or just live with until we get a newer dryer.
It is a Hotpoint, model #: DLB1550BSLWH
SN MG210704H
Thanks in advance for any insight,
Don

I recently overhauled my wife's dryer for about $80 or so. Replaced the two rubber wheel/bearing assemblies and the shafts they sit on that support the rear of the drum. Also installed a new belt. The dryer is at least ten years old and after the work it's as quiet as new. Pretty easy to work on (it's a Kenmore, but most makes are similar). Generally the top flips up, you remove a few bolts, and the the front face comes off. The drum will be supported in the front by the front face of the cabinet and in the back by some arrangement of wheels. The drive belt configuration will be fairly obvious when you get that far. Pull the plug and open it up for a look-see; might be a cheap fix. Good time to vacuum up the collection of lint and dirt from inside the cabinet.
