I am attempting to renovate an old white kitchen unit. I am currently sanding all the white off but do not know what finish to apply. I don't want the finish to have visible brush strokes. Any suggestions on products and methods a UK novice could use? Many thanks

I'd use a good oil base paint in the color of your choice, of course. Do one surface at a time. Use an angled sash brush to "cut in" any corners (where two walls meet, for instance). Use an 1/8" nap sponge roller to do all the flats.

Don't try to roll the roller cover dry - leave enough paint on the surface to allow it to 'settle' - once it does you'll have a smooth surface with absolutely no brush marks.

Not knowing what products are available in the UK, I'll suggest two available here in the 'colonies' - Sherwin Williams and Devoe.
