I spilled hot coffee on a mahogony finished table from the 30's or 40's. Shortly afterwards, a white "stain" gradually appeared. Any suggestions for getting it out or repair?:eek

Zora:
The combination of heat and water can be deadly to lacquer finishes. What happened in your case was the heat partially melted the finish. As it dried, some mooisture became trapped in the finish - hence the white cloudly look.
Make a paste of baking soda and water and rub this on the affected area using a damp sponge.until the white disappears.
Use Turtle Wax Polishing Compound and Scratch Remover to restore the sheen. Go over the entire table for uniformity.
Try to be more careful the next time.
