Hi,

Based on some great advice here (thanks Ed!), I've run supply vents into a relatively sealed basement room I'm building out (12x19'). The supply is on the exterior wall side of the room. Per suggestions here, I'm putting the return on the interior wall.

I have all of the duct work to do this (found a great local HVAC supply store) - my question is how high off the floor do you recommend placing the register? Upstairs they seem to be around 8 inches or so, what about in a basement - does it matter?

Thanks,
Bob

Not a lot for the cold air grills .Just keep them low down there. Most of the time cut them in so they are just above the base board down there. Saves work.

Thanks Ed!

By the way, I don't know if you've ever use duct insulation (I have some left over from a friend call Linacoustic) - do you know what type of adhesive I'd use to attach the insulation to the sheet metal?

Dont know the name.Where would you use it and what for. i think all your duct are in the home and loss there is in the home so you dont need it. We use a lot of scrap duct board to like line the blower part of a furnace inside it . This cuts down on blower noise. It sounds like you have duct linner. There is a spray in a can you can use. If we have to go that way we still use whats called pin it after its glued down on the metal. it still comes lose.
