We have an old sears refrigerator in the basement that's used mainly for keeping drinks cold (which it did quite well) and the freezer for...freezing stuff.

Here's the problem, compressor doesn't run...and neither do any of the fans.

Could this be the thermostat? Defrost timer and compressor relay have just been replaced with no luck. So I am guessing the only thing it could be is the thermostat.

What I am pretty much asking is, could it be something other than the thermostat that would cause everything to stop working? Defroster seems to work btw...as when plugged in, it stays warmer in the fridge than in the basement itself.

Hello,
I measured the voltage going to the compressor (red and white wires) and it measured a steady 6.0V

What's the deal?

It appears you have a test meter, so I'm thinking you do have proper voltage from the receptacle the fridge was plugged into (you have lights when the door is opened) ? also assuming the new defrost timer you purchased was correctly hooked up? Then it does sound likely the stat is bad. The stat is simply a switch. Turn a light switch on and the light glows turn the ref stat on and something should be operating. take your meter and check the continuity of the terminals on the disconnected stat
