My daughter left a glass on top of my cherry entertainment center, and the resulting water caused the wood to bump up a bit. Not really bad, but I would like to fix it without having to refinish the whole top. Is this possible?

The only way I can imagine that condensation from a water glass affecting the top as you say is:
1) the top is unfinished and
2) the top is veneer over particle board.
If I am correct, the particle board has swollen, causing the bump. The only cure I can think of, aside from replacing (not refinishing) the top, is to take a smooth block of wood (about five by five inches), place it on the bump, and hit it with a hammer.
I know this doesn't sound much like an artistic approach, but if my original assumptions are correct, it's the only thing I can think of.
