I am trying to hook up a fan in my downstairs bathroom and I need to go through the side of the house (brick) with the aluminum flexi hose in order to vent the fan. This needs to be a round hole about 4 inches in diameter. What is the best way to do this without destroying the bricks unecessarily?
thanks for your advise.

I would use a masonry bit to drill the outline of the hole in the most convenient location. Clean it up with a cold chisel.

...and do yourself a favor by borrowing/renting a hammer drill if you don't have one...

I've taken on such a project. I found it's very helpful to get a long drill bit as the wall can be pretty thick. Something like a 12" long bit may be necessary, depending on the thickness of the brick wall and any drywall/plasta on the interior.

hire a 4inch diameter core drill, cuts the hole out perfectly.
